Any Choice is Better Than Spain

I really want some red beans and rice. Doesn't that sound fabulous?

Anyway, this is the first weekend since...Christmas?... that I haven't gone into Roswell to work on my project. I know that I'm not done with my research but now I'm just waiting...and waiting...and waiting. The end is almost here and I'm so excited. I want to get out of the blow-hole, I want to have some free time, and I just want to experience life without having to study something. I know that within a week of being "free," Ill miss school and wish that I was in some sort of program. Don't worry, I'm still applying to med school this summer but who knows if I'll actually get in. Hopefully I'll get a job and I can start paying back the student loans (there are quite a few...)

OXYGEN is my new favorite TV station. For the past 2 Saturdays the station has been playing classic chick flicks. Last weekend was a Julia Roberts themed night. Mystic Pizza, Steal Magnolias, and Notting Hill. All classics and all AMAZING. Tonight they're featuring Ever After and Finding Neverland. I think that I've seen Ever After at least 20 times. I went through these weird phases in high school where I'd watch a movie over, and over, and over, and over. Dirty Dancing was the first one and then my creepy movie watching just continued from there. I'm kind of obsessive so I pretty much watch the movie at least once a day until I can recite the whole script from memory. It drove my mother crazy.

Ok, I'm done. I'm going to go tease my hair and practice walking around in stilettos.

A Gnome's Return

Dear Friends, Enemies, and Peons,

I know you've missed me deeply...probably crying yourself to sleep at night because I've been M.I.A. for the past few months. Well wipe your tears, blow your nose, and get back to living because I'M BACK. I went on a tour of New England fisheries so that I could learn the way of my future trade. To your right, you will see my new friend Manny. He taught me everything that he knows about fishing, fishery, fish markets, and life in general...Let me tell you, that Manny has a way with the ladies. Whew, they just flocked to him but, seriously, can you blame them? He tried to give me some tips and he even loaned me some gold chains and hair gel but none of it worked. Maybe if I try to work the Manny-Magic in Buffalo, I'll have better luck. For some reason, I think hair gel and yellow gold will have more success with Buffalo chicas.

Alright, I've got to get off of here because Tara is glaring at me and mumbling something about reading journal articles. She scares me when she gets that creepy glare in her eye. I call it her science face. You don't want to see the science face because it means that she's either going to burst into tears or throw her computer through the window. Tara scares me.
I'm going to take Wendell into the other room and pray that Tara doesn't feel social.

xoxo,
Gnorman G

I Like to Call Them Raspberries of Color

Back in the Southland we called these lovely berries "blackberries." Makes sense, right? They're black and they're berries. Well up here in the great snowy North, they call them "black raspberries." I'm going to admit that it took me about 3 months to realize that these berries were one and the same. Why I'm I talking about berries, you ask. Yeah, I don't really know. I guess it has something to do with the fact that I'm eating "black raspberry" ice cream and thinking about how awesome I am. Ok, when do I not think about how awesome I am? yeah, never. Also, it's -294092384 degrees and I feel like my fingers and toes are going to fall off.

My application to candidacy and abstract got approved last week so now all I have to do is finish up my research, defend it, and pass my last 3 classes. The end is near...I can almost taste it. Do you have any idea how excited I am to get out of Buffalo? This city isn't even pissing me off anymore because all I can think about is how I'll be done in a few short months.
Oh my gosh, I'm so cold. I have to go put on some more clothes.
