Merry Christmas!

I don't think that it's really hit that it is in fact, Christmas. Christmas always has meant going from one family member's house to another family member's house celebrating and watching to see what new bit of drama will be drummed up. It also meant watching my young cousins get so excited over Santa that they 1. Pee their pants 2. Get in trouble for screaming 3. Get so hyped up on sugar that they can't be quiet and end up passed out on the couch after the sugar-high as ended. I guess it's good that I'm spending this Christmas in a different way. Over the past three years, I've lost one family member each year and Christmas is always hard to celebrate knowing that someone is missing. This year wasn't any different but I celebrated in a completely different way and part of me is grateful for that. Yes, I wish that I had been in Knoxville, but I was able to spend Christmas Eve with Megan's family. They treated me like one of the family and I felt so welcome. I am so thankful that Megan is my roommate and that she has such an amazing family. I went out to dinner with Megan, her sister Kelsey, her mother, her 2 uncles, her cousin and her cousin's fiancee, and her uncle's girlfriend. Everyone was very nice and it was a very comfortable atmosphere. They weren't as loud and "out there" as my family but they were fun. I have to say that I got a little sad when I called my uncle Bryan's house and heard everyone having a good time. It was just so weird not being there.

I haven't done a thing since I woke up this morning. I kind of like being a bum. I have to go into work at 3pm and I'm hoping that they'll let me leave early. I plan to have everything packed so all that I have to do tomorrow is wake up, brush my teeth, and start driving. I'm not really sure what time I'll leave but it should be really early. I want to get home. I also don't want to deal with the traffic. Cincinatti is always fun to drive through...yeah right.

Dirty Snow, Dirty Snow

So the roads are clear but there's all this nasty grey snow everywhere. It's so gross. It was so pretty last weekend and now it's back to dirty Buff. Bleh. I just wish that it would all melt.

It looks like I'm going to spend Christmas Eve with Megan's family. This should be fun. Her cousin is from TN and actually went to UT. I think I even had a class with her. I'll have to ask. I'm really looking forward to having some family time even if it's not my own whacked-out family. I just love the whole family dynamic. I think that's what I miss the most about Knoxville. We're going to go to the mall (God knows why) and then out to dinner. Maybe we can play some dumb game. I love those! Christmas day I have to work 3-11 and then I'll be heading home to K-town on the 26th. 12 hours of driving, YES!!!! I plan to stay there until at least Jan 6 but we'll see. I might come back earlier or I might stay longer. I do have to get some work done on my thesis so we'll see how much I can work in knoxville.

Ok off to dry my hair...

Nothing Says "Merry Christmas" Like a Foot of Snow

I think that we got about a foot of snow this weekend. I don't think that I've ever seen this much snow in my life! I really enjoyed it. Megan, Amanda, and I walked to Starbucks and had a nice cup of coffee and then we pelted each other with snowballs and I made a retarded snow angel. It was great. I felt like I was 5 years old again. I just wish that there were hills so I could go sledding. Do they make sleds for tall people? Hmmmm...I will have to check this out. Amanda and I also did a little Christmas shopping in the stores around our apartment. I finally bought my first Christmas present. I'm so behind but I don't have a lot of money so I have to get creative. I also found this loose-leaf tea place and I bought some amazing green tea. God, I'm such a snob.

Amanda and I came home, watched The Holiday and I baked cookies. I was in a nesting mood. I think that Buffalo is making me weirder. I mean I baked...what the hell? Kelsey also came over and subjected her "man-friend" to the weirdness of 103 Lancaster. Poor guy.

I finally found out that I'm working Christmas Day. I'm not that upset. I get paid more and I'll still be able to get home on the 26th. Yeah, I'll miss the family stuff but I can still spend time with them when I get home. I don't know how long I'm going to stay but I'm thinking until like the 6th...maybe?? I still have to get the intro to my thesis written by then but hopefully I can work on it at home. I also have to start studying for my MCAT. I decided to take it in April and I need to do really well.

We had a Christmas party this weekend. It was interesting. I was so tired that I ended up just leaving and crawling into bed. I had a really good time, though. We are such a strange group of people that we're bound to have fun.

Alright, I'm going to go watch it snow some more. I'll never get my car out of this.

Goodbye Oncology, Hello Thesis and MCAT!

I'm finally done with all of my finals, papers, and presentations. It was a tough few weeks and now it's finally over! If I hear about pRB one more time, I just might scream and/or kill someone. I have a whole month away from classes and I can't wait. What will I do with my time...Oh yeah, I have to have the intro to my thesis by january, I have to start hardcore studying for my MCAT, and there's a little holiday called Christmas thrown in there. Ahhhh...it never ends.
